“The Character of Joseph Bau”

The “The Character of Joseph Bau” exhibit tells the story of the father of Israeli animation and graphics through pieces he produced over the years. Along with the paintings he painted in the Płaszów and Brněnec concentration camps, and attesting to his own story during the Holocaust, the exhibit displays a variety of Bau’s large body of artistic work from throughout his life in Israel: works dealing with the enigmas of the Hebrew language, placards he produced for public and commercial purposes, titles, fonts, logos, postcards, and a host of other graphic and artistic creations. The exhibit includes the screening of a selection of animated films that Bau produced in his makeshift studio, reflecting his pioneering work in this field.

The exhibit was established in partnership with Bau’s daughters and with Joseph Bau House in Tel Aviv.
